Background Image Selection
When
you select a background image,
make sure you select the .bmp file type. If you select .jpg,
Windows will enable active desktop. Active desktop is a
failed
push media remnant within Windows that has a huge negative impact on
the performance of your system. If an image you want is in
.jpg
format, open it with Internet Explorer, and do a save is, selecting
the .bmp format, and place it in the C:\Windows directory.
You
may then reopen the desktop properties and set the new image as your
wallpaper.
